Grammy U held a soundcheck for Def Jam Recording Artist Karina Pasian earlier today at the Electric Factory in Philly where she also did a Q&A session for her guests. Karina is of dominican descent and she can sing in seven different languages. The 17 year old performed at the White House for President George W. Bush last year in celebration of Black Music Month, making her the first person of Dominican descent to perform there. Pasian became the subject of a bidding war when she was thirteen between three major record labels, Def Jam, Interscope, and Bad Boy Records. She ultimately chose Def Jam in 2006 because they “made the best offer.” I had the pleasure of chatting with Karina last year and shes a really cool person.
